Black Minority and Ethnic (BME) Group
The ‘BME’ (Black Minority and Ethnic) group is historically a drop-in provision but it is currently undergoing some changes as it is trying to have a more focussed aim.
Who it is for
The group targets young men from BME backgrounds but also attracts white young men from the local area and the group is a very good example of different ethnicities working together.
What the group does
The group has a very strong sports base and the young men are involved in the Street Soccer League.
Their enthusiasm for sport is the focus of a current project around racial issues in sport. The group has recently bid for funding to explore different sports and cultural stereotypes.
Where meetings are held
The group meets at Bewsey Gym on Friday evenings.
