Youth Services

Warrington Borough Council has a youth service which works with local community and voluntary groups to help young people in the area, mainly 13-19 year olds.
Our youth service offers the support young people need to make sure they are involved in education, training or employment.
Around 60 per cent of young people come into contact with the youth service between the ages of 11 and 25.
The service offers quality support to make sure that young people:
- Achieve, progress and develop personally and socially
- Make their voice heard
- Are not excluded from the community
- Receive all the advice and support that they need
The quality of every youth service is assessed by Ofsted. The government can step in if they think a youth service is very poor.
Youth work can take place in locations including schools and colleges, youth clubs and centres, parks, shopping centres and even on the street.
Warrington also has many specialist support groups set up to target individual groups of young people, such as:
- The Gay and Lesbian Youth Support Service (GLYSS)
- Phaze – the drug intervention service
- The Young Parents Group
- The BME (Black, Minority and Ethnic) Group
- The Alternative Curriculum
- The Street Soccer League
- The Beaches Surfers Club
Young people can also get involved with the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, the Warrington Youth Parliament and the IMPACT Youth Forum.
Or they can visit us at the Youth Advice Shop for confidential sexual health advice, plus free contraception, pregnancy testing and STI testing and treatment. We also offer smoking cessation sessions.
There is also a Youth Opportunity Fund which supplies money to young people so that they can improve things to do and places to go in their area.
More information about our youth service is available in the Warrington Youth Service Curriculum
