Youth Opportunity and Youth Capital Funds
Every year, £189,000 is available for young people to spend on things to do and places to go in Warrington.
There are two funds:
- The Youth Opportunity Fund
This supports the running costs of projects and can be used to pay for things like transport, entrance fees, materials and advertising. Between £50 and £3,000 can be given to a single project. - The Youth Capital Fund
This supports the costs of buildings and equipment relating to a project and can be used to pay for things like buildings, computers, skate parks and minibuses. There are no limits to how much money can be spent on a single project.
Applying
Anybody living in Warrington aged 13 to 19 can apply, but they must be supported by an adult with a bank account. Decisions about whether a project will be supported by the fund will be made within four to eight weeks after they application is received.
Accountability
If the application is successful, the young person who applied to the fund must collect some evidence and write a report about how the money has improved things. Photographs and comments from young people are a good idea.
There must be proof of how the money was spent.
