Cheshire Plains and Peaks Sportive
Date: 7th September 2014
Location: Broomfields Leisure Centre
Time: 09:00 - 17:00
The sportive now in it's 6th year, is in aid of St. Rocco’s Hospice in Warrington.
The event offers two routes of 60 miles and 100 miles, both starting at the Broomfields Leisure Centre in Appleton, Warrington. The 60 mile route takes riders through the rolling Cheshire countryside on minor roads, with the main challenge being the climb up and over Alderley Edge, before looping back to Appleton.
The 100 mile route initially follows the same route but leaves the refreshment stop at Alderley Edge and takes the riders onto the more challenging climbs of the Peak District, up to Sparrowpit and returning via Buxton, through the Goyt Valley and over the Cat and Fiddle before rejoining the 60 mile route.

"Let’s do a big walk north of the reserve" we thought...
We might regret this!
The plan is to leave the visitor centre, head north for Pestfurlong Hill, and to Willow Brook. Here we pick up Holcroft Lane for a short way then join the Timberland Trail alongside the River Glaze. We return to the visitor centre via Glazebrook and the old war camp. The walk is approx 11km at a moderate pace. There are no hostelries along the route but we can stop for a short break half way round. Sensible clothing and footwear please.
Meet at the Ranger Centre off Manchester Road, Rixton, WA3 6EB
