Most concerns about your child’s care can be resolved through discussion with the childcare provider.
If you cannot resolve the issue through discussion, you can make a formal complaint to them in writing or by email. By law they should have a procedure for the handling of written complaints.
If a concern:
- cannot be resolved after following the provider's complaints procedure;
- relates to an issue that you cannot discuss with the provider, such as a child protection concern;
- is that someone is caring for children without being registered;
then you should contact Ofsted who will consider all concerns very carefully providing they relate to the conditions of the childcare providers registration. Ofsted will not investigate concerns relating to other matters such as fees or noise issues.
Sometimes a complaint can trigger child protection concerns (even if this is not your original concern). If this happens, Ofsted must pass on full details to the police and Warrington Safeguarding Children Board.
