School building works

On this page you will be able to access detailed drawings for the proposals to rebuild Great Sankey Primary School, and relocate Sycamore Lane Primary School to Chapelford.

Great Sankey Primary School - new build replacement
It is proposed to provide the school with a new school building, which is to be located on part of the playing fields to Penketh High School. The new building will provide a modern and fit for purpose facility, which will be constructed to the latest standards to ensure that the building will be energy efficient and suitable for the delivery of the national curriculum.

The build should start early in 2012, with the new school being ready for occupation in October 2012. The old school buildings will then be demolished and its land converted to sports playing fields. The old Victorian building which fronts the existing school site will not be demolished; plans for its reuse or disposal will be made public at a later date.

If you would like to raise any queries or post comments about the nature of the development, please feel free to email the council at amt@warrington.gov.uk

It is intended that this page will be update periodically with new and updated information as and when it becomes available.

Chapelford Primary School - new build relocation of Sycamore Lane Primary School

It is proposed to re-locate Sycamore Lane Primary school to a new building, which is located at Chapelford Urban Village.  The new building will provide a modern facility, which will be constructed to the latest standards to ensure that the building will be energy efficient and suitable for the delivery of the national curriculum.

The proposals for Chapelford Primary School on the new site aim to deliver a number of significant benefits:

  • Provide a modern school building that will enhance pupils’ learning experience and improve pupil engagement in their environment.
  • Provide community facilities that can be isolated from the rest of the school for use out of hours and at weekends
  • Provide a more energy efficient building with a targeted BREEAM Very Good rating.
  • Reduce money spent on costly ongoing maintenance of out dated building fabric at Sycamore Lane Primary School
  • Provide a single cohesive school building to replace the separate infants and junior buildings on the current school site

The new build begins in Spring 2012, with the new school being ready for occupation in February 2013.

It is intended that this page will be update periodically with new and updated information as and when it becomes available.
