A school travel plan outlines a range of measures aimed at improving safety and reducing the dependence on travel by car by pupils, parents and staff on the journeys made to and from school.

It includes actions that will encourage walking, cycling, public transport use, car sharing and other measure that help sustainable and healthy travel choices.

Each school in Warrington owns a school travel plan, updating it annually. A new action plan is created for each new academic year which contains all the relevant actions for the school.

Annual travel surveys allow a comparison of data from previous years and make it easier to judge if initiatives are having an effect.
