As part of the ‘Think Family’ approach in Warrington, monies secured via Youth Justice (YJB) and Positive Activities for Young People (PAYP) have been used to develop an Intensive Intervention Project (IIP), ‘Step In’, for young people involved in anti social behaviour (ASB).
The project has two key themes;
- Intensive one to one key work support to young people on the periphery of ASB, low attainment, poor attendance, substance misuse etc…
- Targeted responses to hotspot areas across the borough, including provision of positive diversionary activities
The aims of the project are to:-
- Reduce the number of young people involved in anti-social behaviour, substance misuse and crime through targeted prevention and intervention. Young people are referred from a range of key partners including; Police, Youth Offending Team (YOT), Children’s Social Care, Warrington Youth Support Service and schools.
- Provide a range of diversionary activities for up to 50 vulnerable and problematic young people per year.
- Support families in need in partnership with other support teams and key partners.
