The Electoral Commission assesses the performance of every council in relation to elections and electoral registration. The Returning Officer (RO) and Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) must report (by self-assessment) on how they perform against the standards set by the Electoral Commission each year. The assessment reviews all areas of work by individual ROs and EROs.
For further information about performance standards and to compare how we do with other local authorities visit the Electoral Commission's website.
Following the 2010 assessment in elections, Warrington has been assessed as ‘not meeting the standard’ in two areas but we are ‘above standard’ in four areas which is a positive improvement from 2009 where we assessed as ‘not meeting the standard’ in three areas and only ‘above standard’ in one area.
