The Lifelong Learning team aims to develop our community through learning and to provide quality adult learning opportunities to close the gap between the advantaged and the disadvantaged in our community. This is achieved via an accessible service that leads on the provision of high quality adult learning opportunities that positively impact, directly and indirectly, on the residents of our community. The team delivers, through a network of partner providers, a range of adult learning for personal, social, community and economic reasons, usually grouped as:
- adult and community learning - to widen participation in learning, promote progression pathways, including developing skills for jobs/progression to Skills for Life opportunities, and build capacity in the third sector
- family learning - to enable adults and children to learn together, and to improve the literacy, language and numeracy skills of parents to enable them to help their children and assist in their children's learning and skills.
Widening participation, raising levels of literacy and numeracy, enabling parents and children to learn together
Family Language Literacy Numeracy - WBCLLS will use FLLN funding to raise levels of functional literacy and numeracy in the Borough, especially inner ward target areas, and support the engagement of parents and families in learning; including men.
Wider Family Learning programmes will be used to engage adults and children to learn together, to support their children’s learning.
WBCLLS will use WFL funding streams to widen participation and improve social regeneration in Warrington’s inner wards.
