How do I join the library?
Becoming a member is easy, there is no age limit and your card is free, simply call into any Warrington library to join.
A child can be a library member from birth. We have a wide range of picture books and board books for babies at every library.
If you are under 16 your parent/guardian will sign the card. If you join without an adult present we will send your parent/guardian a letter to inform them.
A concession card is available if you are aged 18-59 and in receipt of benefits. All library members aged 60+ are also issued with a concession card.
What can I use my card for?
You can use your card in any Warrington library, to borrow books and CDs, DVDs and to use the computers.
Children aged 12 years and under may borrow up to 10 items. Young people aged 13-17 years may borrow up to 15 items. Adults can borrow up to 20 items.
Please note: You can only have four CDs and DVDs on loan at one time.

Please bring your library card with you on each visit.
You should never let anyone else use your card as you are responsible for anything issued on it. You will be asked to pay a replacement cost for anything which is lost or damaged while on loan to you.
Your card gives you access to use a computer free of charge.
What if I lose my card?
Please let us know immediately if your card is lost or stolen to prevent misuse. There is no charge for a replacement ticket but uou are responsible for all items borrowed on your card.
Can I keep items on my card for longer?
- Items can be renewed in person, by telephone, fax, post or online through the EPS library catalogue – providing other borrowers haven't requested them
- Books and talking books can be renewed up to six times.
- DVDs, CDs and language courses can be renewed three times. A further renewal may be possible but you need to bring the items to the library for re-stamping
- To renew an item by telephone, fax or post, please quote your library card number. Items can be renewed at any library
- To renew an item online you will need your card number and PIN. Ask library staff for your PIN.
What happens if I return items late?
A charge is made for any item kept beyond the return date, and also for postage costs when an overdue notice is sent.
We can email you to remind you that your items are due for return/renewal three days in advance. To request this service ask library staff or apply online.
Children aged 12 and under pay charges on overdue CDs and DVDs but not books.
Young people aged between 13 and 17 are charged the concessionary rate on each book per open day.
How can I find what I want?
- You can use the online catalogue, which will tell you the items we have in stock. You can reserve items online, reservations are free and you will be notified when the item is ready for collection
- If you visit one of the libraries and you can't find the item you want, please ask a member of staff for help. If it is in stock, you can reserve it free of charge and we will tell you when the item is ready for collection
- If we don't have the book you want in stock, we can try to get it from another library service. There is a charge for this service.
