Library Review 2010/11

Library sign

On Monday 17 January the council's executive board voted in favour of closing Great Sankey and Grappenhall libraries and discontinuing the mobile library service.

In May 2010, an independent Library Review Board was set up to look at how Warrington’s library service could be developed for the future, in order to provide a modern, relevant service which meets local people’s needs and aspirations.  The group was made up of library staff, users and independent third parties.

In October, the council approved three recommendations, and public consultation about the options in the report was held between 1–28 November.

The library review was completed in November and 2699 feedback forms were returned.  User comments were also collected via public meetings.

A decision will be made by the council's executive board on Monday 17 January, and the result of the meeting will be made available in libraries afterwards and online here. To view the consultation report going before the executive board please see related documents below.

To view comments from the consultation please see related documents below.  Please note paper copies will be placed in all libraries from Tuesday 11 January onwards.
