Location

Birchwood Library is part of Birchwood Community High School, and opposite to the Leisure and Tennis Complex. Turn off Dewhurst Road into Benson Road, and Brock Road is the first left.

Parking

Car park at the front of the library and two disabled car parking spaces in the car park.

Access

The library is on one level and there is an accessible toilet in the library. A hearing induction loop is available.

  • Books can be loaned for up to three weeks
  • Newspapers and magazines
  • Reading group meets second Tuesday of each month, (visit the reading groups page for more details)
  • Storytime for under 5s every Tuesday at 2pm
  • Homework club each Wednesday in term time for young people in school years 6–11
  • Book club each Tuesday for young people in school years 6-9
  • Reference collection
  • Free Internet access at any one of the 15 public computers
  • Adult and children's DVDs for loan
  • Adult talking books for loan - cassette and CD formats
  • Children's talking books for loan - cassette and CD formats
  • Language courses for loan
  • Study space
  • Copying service, using computer scanners
  • Exhibition space.

History

The library first opened its doors to the public in 1985.
