A562 Widnes Road

Hazard signUnited Utilities have notified the council of a collapsed sewer under the A562 Widnes Road which has flooded properties on Back Lane, Warrington.

In order for UU to resolve the problem they will need to close Widnes Road from its junction with the traffic lights at Fiddlers Ferry to the ‘eight towers’ island in Halton.

The works will start at 7pm on Friday 10 February and will continue throughout the following week with the road expected to re-open on Monday 20 February.

Two diversion routes will be place; the main one will be will be the A5080 Farnworth Road and South Lane onto Watkinson Way in Halton.  However due to the height restriction at the railway bridge on South Lane a secondary diversion route of the A57 Liverpool Road will also be signed again directing the traffic onto Watkinson Way.

United Utilities will be contacting residents and businesses directly in the area advising them of the works.
