This page aims to inform you of the choices provided within Warrington's cemeteries and crematorium for the laying to rest of cremated remains, along with the forms of commemoration available.
The Meadow Walk
The Meadow Walk at Walton Lea Crematorium provides natural surroundings where cremated remains may be scattered within our seasonal gardens of Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. Seating is provided within this area for quiet contemplation and scattering is completely free of charge.
The Woodland Walk
The Woodland Walk is also an area where remains can be scattered, providing a tranquil setting for peaceful remembrance under a canopy of trees such as oak, beech and pine. The area is rich in bird life and is set adjacent a large pond, home to ducks and moorhens. Seating is provided and as this is a natural environment we request that no memorialisation is made in the Woodland Walk and that plastic and paper are removed from flowers before placing them in this area.
Burial in the Garden of Remembrance
Cremated remains may be interred in a plot within our Garden of Remembrance at Walton Lea Crematorium.
A maximum of three interments may take place in each plot. The council will retain ownership of the plot and future burials will be at their discretion. A charge exists for interments within the garden.
Burial in a cemetery grave, especially for the interment of cremated remains, are available in some of our cemeteries. Alternatively, if you already own a family grave in a cemetery it may be possible for you to have cremated remains buried in the grave space, even if there is no room for full burials. Please be aware that you must have the written permission of the grave owner and make arrangements through the bereavement services office. Contact us for information on fees and charges.
