Council tax

Council tax

Council tax is a way of raising money to help pay for services the council provides. These include for example, education, social services, libraries, refuse collection, street lighting and leisure.

Council tax is based on the value of a property, and all homes are subject to council tax, including flats and houses which are rented or owned and whether they are lived in or not.
