What can you do for me if I have problems with my housing conditions or landlord?
There are various ways in which we can advise and assist you in respect of problems relating to the repair of your home or if you are the subject of landlord harassment or illegal eviction.
You can make a service request, by email, phone, letter, or in person at our offices. We will acknowledge your request in writing and if appropriate, send out a private sector housing officer to inspect your house and give you advice accordingly.
If we cannot help, we will try and signpost you to someone who can help. For information on the Housing Ombudsman Service visit the website.
If you can help, what will you do?
We will take the matter up with your landlord on your behalf and will agree an acceptable solution to resolve the conditions. If necessary, we can use our legal powers to require the work which we consider essential to be done.
Can you help me if I am a council tenant?
If you are a council tenant and have concerns about disrepair please contact Property Connect on 0800 252627 where a customer services advisor will make arrangements for a surveyor to visit you and consider your requests.
If your problems with repair still persist after being dealt with by Property Connect you can contact us and we will look into the problem for you.
What is the council doing to raise private rented sector house standards?
The council encourages landlords to raise standards in various ways, and runs a number of initiatives to support a healthy private rented sector, these include promotion of the landlord forum, the HMO Licensing Scheme and the proposed Cheshire Landlord Accreditation Scheme.
