Race Online 2012 is a government-backed initiative aiming to make the UK one of the first countries in the world to achieve near-total internet use by 2012.
The initiative invites companies, organisations and individuals to sign a pledge outlining what they will do to inspire, help and support the 8.7 million adults in the UK who have never used the internet to get online.
The benefits to getting everyone online are vast. It will reduce social exclusion and isolation; it opens opportunities for education, employment and training, and increases access to the support needed by vulnerable people.
