Home Education
As parents you have the responsibility to ensure that your child receives a suitable education. Most parents send their children to school, but you do have the right to arrange for children to be educated at home instead of school if you choose to do so.
If you are considering educating your child at home as a way to avoid issues in school, such as relationship difficulties or attendance and exclusion issues, then the Virtual School Education Manager can offer you guidance and support to resolve these issues.
Deciding to educate your child at home is a major undertaking and there are many factors to consider. Under UK law you must ensure that:
- The education you provide is full-time and efficient;
- The education you provide is appropriate to your child’s age, ability and aptitude; and
- The education meets any special educational needs your child has.
