Educational visits and school trips

'Out of classroom learning' has a vital role in raising achievement and  makes a valuable contribution to young people’s growth and learning.

Warrington Children and Young People's Directorate and all local schools believe that outdoor learning is a key factor to improving pupil performance across the curriculum.

The council and school governors encourage participation in outdoor learning and educational visits / school trips.  We have worked to make sure children and young people are offered quality educational visits which give them the opportunity to further their learning.

Safety - the safety of students whilst taking part in educational visits or outdoor learning is the most important thing and must always be the first aspect to consider for parents and teachers.

Educational visits policy - to ensure the safety of students we follow a comprehensive educational visits policy which includes practices and procedures, including risk assessments.

Warrington also supports off-site educational visits by a network of educational visit co-ordinators who oversee and support visits from schools.

Travel insurance for school journeys - schools can purchase their own travel insurance for school journeys, or they can use the council's policy.
