The wire magazine
For a number of years the council’s communications team produced magazine for residents called the Wire. It contained local news and details fo the latest council initiatives and service developments. It came out three times a year and cost in the region of £64 000 to design, print and distribute.
The magazine was stopped in 2011 as part of a range of budget proposals to save around £22m in the 2011-12 financial year.
An online version of the Wire launched in March 2012 and much like it's predecessor the new version carries the same kind of news stories but costs just £3000 to produce annually. Much like the old wire magazine, the digital version also comes out three times a year - in early March, July and November.
A small number of printed copies are distributed to libraries in Warrington and placed in the public areas of council buildings.
