How do I join the library?
Joining the library is easy, there is no age limit and your ticket is free. Call into any Warrington Library, please bring one form of identification with you which shows your current address.
If you are under 16 your parent/guardian must sign the card and you need to provide 1 proof of address. A concession card is available if you are aged 18-59 and in receipt of benefits. All library members aged 60+ are issued with a concession card.
You can now join online.
How old does a child have to be to join the library?
A child can be a library member from birth. We have a wide range of picture books and board books for babies at every library.

What can I use my ticket for?
You can use your ticket in any Warrington Library.
You can borrow any combination of items up to a total of 12. Children under 13 years old may borrow up to 8 items.

Your ticket must be brought with you on each visit.
You should never let anyone else use your ticket as you are responsible for anything issued on it. You will be asked to pay a replacement cost for anything which is lost or damaged while on loan to you.
Your ticket is also used to enable you to use a computer free of charge. See the Computers in Libraries section for more information.
What if I lose my ticket?
You are responsible for all items borrowed on your ticket so please let us know immediately if your ticket is lost to prevent misuse. There is no charge for a replacement ticket.
Can I keep items on my ticket for longer?
- Items can be renewed by telephone, fax, post or online through the library catalogue – providing other borrowers haven’t requested them.
- Items can be renewed this way 3 times. A further renewal may be possible but you need to bring the items to the library for restamping.
- To renew an item by telephone, fax or post, please quote your library ticket number. Items can be renewed at any computerised library.
- To renew an item online you will need your ticket number and PIN.
What happens if I return items late?
A charge is made for any item kept beyond the return date, together with the postage costs when a reminder is sent.
Are children charged fines on their books if they are overdue?
- Children aged 12 and under are not charged fines on their books.
- Young people aged between 13 and 17 are currently charged 6p per open day on each book.
How can I find what I want?
- Ask our staff who will be pleased to help you.
- You can use the online catalogue, which will tell you the items we have in stock. You can also reserve items online, normal reservation charges apply.
- You can visit a library and reserve any item (except reference stock) by filling in a reservation card. There is a charge for this and we will tell you when the item is ready for collection.
- Books - even if we do not have a copy we will try to borrow it for you from another library or we will consider buying a copy if it is still in print.

Do any of the libraries in Warrington have computers I can use?
All Warrington Libraries have public access computers. All public computers provide free filtered access to the Internet, email & MS Office software. See the Computers in Libraries section for more details.

Mobile library services are operated from Stockton Heath Library. Please contact the library on 01925 261148 for more information. The mobile library can also be contacted on 07919 558598.
