Refurbishment of Warrington Library 

An application to refurbish Warrington Library has been approved, which plans to improve current services while maximising the Victorian features of the building.                                                                                                      
Work is due to take place between October 2008 and February 2009.  During this time a limited library service will be available on the first floor in Warrington Museum.                                                               

Our temporary opening hours from October 2008 until February 2009 will be:                                             
Monday - Friday    9.00 am - 4.30 pm 
Saturday               9.30 am - 4.00 pm

Location
From Wilson Patten Street, turn right into Winmarleigh Street, following signs to Cultural Quarter. Turn first right into Museum Street, and the library is at the end of the street on the left hand side.

Parking
On street car parking is on Museum Street, in one hour spaces.
Parking spaces for people with blue badges are available outside the library.
There are bicycle racks in the road outside the library entrance.

Access
A ramp outside the main entrance on Museum Street leads to the automatic entrance doors. The library is on two levels, the upper level being accessible by platform lift designed to take a wheelchair.
Public toilets are available in the Museum on the first floor, including one accessible toilet. Access to the Museum is through the side door in the main library, and by lift to the first floor. Baby changing facilities are available.
Portable induction loops are available.

History
Warrington Library was the first rate supported public library in the country, opening on 24 May 1848 as a library and museum. Following its success, it moved to larger premises in Museum Street in November 1857. In 1998, Warrington Library celebrated 150 years of service.
