Warrington Borough Council is delighted to formally announce the appointment of Steve Reddy to executive director for the families and wellbeing directorate.
Steve is currently the Council’s Operational Director for Adult Social Care Services and will take up his new position in August.
Steve has worked at Warrington for almost four years having previously held a number of senior management roles within Liverpool City Council and Merseyside Police.
Talking about his appointment Steve said:
“Taking on the executive director role is a significant challenge - one that I am incredibly proud to be asked to do and really looking forward to. I have the support of a great staff team in the families and wellbeing directorate and across the wider council, and have great support from our elected members.
“Since joining Warrington I have always been struck by how proud everyone is of the town and how committed everyone involved with the council is to ensuring they do the best they possibly can for the people of Warrington.
“What is also clear is that people here are not passive recipients of services and those we support, their families, carers and wider communities, are very keen to develop ideas and solutions ‘together’ and ensure they can influence and take control of their future.
“In addition to a fantastic staff team in the council I have also worked with some great people across our key partners, and in the face of some real challenges ahead - the strength of the partnerships, and very positive relationships, is one the key factors that will ensure we continue to deliver the best possible services together.
“I consider myself to be at the pragmatic, common-sense end of which ever spectrum of personality styles is currently in vogue and so in terms of vision and purpose – when my sons were asking why my job just seems to be about emails, meetings and budgets, I told them the reason I go to work is for one thing – and that’s to do my very best, along with my team, to improve the quality of life and wellbeing of the children, adults and families in Warrington.”
Cllr Terry O’Neill, leader of the council, said: “We are delighted to announce this appointment and are very pleased to welcome Steve onto our senior management team. His in-depth skills and experience will help us deliver our far reaching ambitions for the town and drive forward our agenda for our families and well-being services.
“These services are all about protecting and supporting residents in a wide variety of ways including through education, social care and health services and we look forward to working with Steve as we continue to put the people of Warrington first enabling them to thrive now and in the future.”
