Industrial action on Thursday 10 July

Information about council services affected and school closures on Thursday 10 July.
National strike action is due to take place on Thursday 10 July 2014 and some council services will be affected by this.
Several trades unions including Unison, Unite and GMB, have balloted members and voted in favour of strike action.
The National Union of Teachers (NUT) will also be striking on this day and a number of schools will be closed or partially closed.
The council is committed to making every effort to minimise the impact on residents. It is focusing on ensuring vital services to the most vulnerable, older people and children and young people are still delivered.

If your bin is due to be collected on Thursday 10 July, it will not be collected.
Black bin collections due on Thursday 10 July will take place from Tuesday 15 July and each subsequent day thereafter until all collections are completed.
Residents should place their black bin at the normal collection point from 6.30am.
The council will make arrangements for the black bin to be collected as soon as possible from Tuesday 15 July.
Recycling collections of blue and green bins on Thursday 10 July will be suspended until the next scheduled collection of Thursday 24 July.
The council's three household waste recycling centres at Woolston, Gatewarth and Stockton Heath, which are operated by Environmental Waste Controls, will be open as normal on Thursday 10 July.
The customer Contact Centre, on Horsemarket Street, will be closed to the public however limited telephone cover will be provided. If your enquiry is not essential please contact us on Friday or use our online forms.
Orford Youth Base and the Youth Café will be closed for the day. The street based session, vulnerable girls group and 3-6pm session will also be cancelled.
Adult social care services
Some adult social care day services will not be running and all affected service users have been notified.
