About Us

STiW LogoNeighbourhood involvement
Neighbourhood involvement is about working together.  The government have funded Stronger Together in Warrington to form a neighbourhood involvement team which aims to help individuals, service users and groups tell us how things work best in their area and then support services and groups to respond to these local needs.

What do we do?

  • liaise between partners, communities and individuals, helping to get every voice heard.
  • support community activity and help groups to network with other groups working for the benefit of the area.
  • help you find solutions to any problems you have.
  • help groups access funding and training.
  • work with your community helping you improve the place where you and your family live.
  • act as facilitators/ mediators helping communities to identify needs, priorities and aspirations.
  • working with partners to re-shape service delivery where possible to better meet community priorities.

What needs improving?
We will be looking to work with you on improvements in issues around:

  • improve the quality of the physical and general environment
  • increase access to community facilities and services particularly for children, young people, the elderly and people with disabilities
  • improve the general health of residents and access to health facilities in the community
  • reduce crime and the perceptions of lack of preventative action in the area and improve community safety
  • create a neighbourhood where people work together as a community and support community organisations and groups
  • ensure that children get the best start in life and young people have positive activities to take part in
  • create a learning community and increase community capacity, social capital and wealth in the community

Stronger Together in Warrington has an executive board that is working in partnership with residents, voluntary organisations, the local strategic partnership, Warrington Borough Council, NHS Warrington, Cheshire Police, Job Centre Plus, Sure Start for All, Golden Gates Housing and Warrington Housing Association.

We are also promoting volunteering with lots of opportunities ranging from helping strengthen residents’ associations to working in one of the two community cafes in Longford and Fearnhead Cross.

The background
The Safer and Stronger Community Fund has been introduced for all local authorities to help neighbourhoods tackle issues such as crime, anti-social behaviour and drug misuse.

Your neighbourhood, your input
It is also aimed at empowering communities, improving skills and supporting learning opportunities for adults so you, as residents, can play a more active part in community life and influence what happens in your area.

Improving the quality of life for residents is a priority and we hope to achieve this by involving as many people as possible who live within the borough and the service providers together to support positive change.

Your priorities
We need to know what you feel is most important and what you are worried about so we can find solutions to problems together.

The government has allocated £1.6 million spread over four years to Warrington under the Safer and Stronger Communities Fund’s Neighbourhood Element.  Much of this will be spent with the neighbourhood involvement team supporting community consultation and information gathering to help service providers meet your priorities in the community and so spend money more effectively in your neighbourhood.

The remainder will be used to support community activity and to provide matched funding so bringing even more money into the community.  Our aim is to make sure all voices are heard so together we can build safer and stronger communities.
