Update 22/10/2020

Due to other works on the Warrington Road network, these works will now start with the Southbound phase of works up to Christmas followed by the two Northbound phases in the New Year.

Additionally, in the run up to Christmas, there will be no planned road closures on this section of the A49 Winwick Road on Thursday evenings due to late night shopping in the area.

Works will be taking place to resurface the road along the A49 Winwick Road between the Fire Station and the junction at Hawley's Lane/Long Lane.

These works will start from Monday 2 November 2020, and will take up to 18 weeks to complete. However there will be no restrictions between 14 December 2020 and 17 January 2021 due to the Christmas break.

The Principal Contractor for this scheme is Tarmac Trading Ltd.

Due to the difficult nature of the works, it will be necessary to close the road, and its side roads, for the resurfacing works, with the road being closed between 7:00pm and 1:00am.

All roads will be reopened to traffic outside these times.

The works will be split into three phases (2 northbound before Christmas and 1 southbound after New Year) as shown on the information plan.

Works will also be taking place in Jubilee Way to extend the existing traffic island at the junction with Winwick Road and to resurface the approach to that junction, which may take place before the full works in Phase 1 start.

Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times and vehicular access will be under the control of the Principal Contractor.

There will be signed diversion route for the works via Midland Way, Froghall Lane, Priestley Street, Sankey Way, Cromwell Avenue and vice versa.

Information on changes to bus services and any diversions will be posted at stops prior to the start of the works.

All works are planned for Monday to Friday nights, no works are planned to take place on Saturday or Sunday nights.

Cones, barriers and signs are there for a reason - to protect our workers from danger and to keep the public safe. We urge drivers to pay close attention when driving near roadworks.
