We're seeking your views on proposed new measures to be included within a revised and updated Air Quality action plan.
The current action plan includes several measures to improve air quality within Air Quality Management Areas (AQMAs) to meet national standards and improve health. Actions, though, are expected to have additional improvements across the wider borough. A number of these actions have now been completed.
The consultation will run until the 31 January 2021.
Generally, the air quality across Warrington is good and meets the national standards. However, areas close to major roads do exceed the national average for annual mean nitrogen dioxide. These locations have been declared AQMAs. Over the last five years, the trend is that nitrogen dioxide levels are improving and moving forward; this is expected to continue due to further improvements in engine technology and uptake of electric vehicles. However, there remain concerns over fine particulates levels, known as PM2.5, which are seeing less progress.
Please respond to this consultation by 5.00 pm on the 31 January 2021.
