An exciting opportunity has arisen to help to build a regional adoption agency for Warrington, Wigan, St Helens, Halton and Cheshire West and Chester.

The new regional adoption agency (RAA) will deliver recruitment, matching and adoption support services and will work alongside local authorities once the decision has been made that adoption is the best plan for the child.

The key aims for the RAA are to:

  • provide all children with an adoptive family that meets their needs
  • ensure that those affected by adoption receive the information, support and advice that they need to understand their adoption journey
  • ensure that RAA families are well prepared, enabled and supported to care for the children with plans for adoption.

The RAA will be developed with a focus on the child’s journey to adoption to ensure that we deliver innovative and high standards of practice which leads to better outcomes.

We’re looking for someone with exceptional organisational and communication skills to work alongside the project manager, project board and steering group to meet the ambitious timescales we’ve set ourselves for establishing the new RAA.

You will develop one of the two project elements set out below:

  1. Establish the new RAA headquarters in Warrington

Working alongside the project manager and the staff reference group you will

· Liaise with architects, contractors and Wigan facilities management to advise on and monitor the refurbishment of the new centre in respect of alterations, installation of ICT infrastructure, décor and furnishings.

· Project manage the move of staff to the new centre

· Establish and guide task and finish groups to develop specific elements of the project

· Manage the meetings of the accommodation group including the organisation of the meetings and taking notes

· Keep the project plan up to date and inform partners informed of progress

2. Establishment of the new case management system (CMS) for the RAA

Working alongside the project manager, adoption leads from the five local authorities and the case management system provider you will support the introduction of a new case management system for the RAA. Elements of the role include:

· Act as the link with the CMS provider

· Schedule and support meetings with the CMS provider and key stakeholders as required

· Establish and guide task and finish groups to develop specific elements of the project

· Organise staff training events in consultation with the CMS provider

· Monitor the project plan and provide update reports to the steering group and project board

You will

· Be a self-starter with resilience and determination

· Have first class organisational skills and a keen eye for detail

· Have excellent communication skills with experience of using a range of media and working with different target audiences.

· Have experience of working effectively in a fast paced environment with deadlines, interruptions, and work demands and be able to use your own initiative to prioritise workloads.

· Have excellent ICT skills and have a high level of commitment to customer care.

· Demonstrate an understanding of equality and diversity issues and how they relate to managing change

· Be able to work flexibly and to travel to meetings across the five local authorities.

Note: previous project support or management experience/ qualifications and/or knowledge of adoption services is desirable but not essential.
