To manage an efficient and effective private office to the Police and Crime Commissioner for Merseyside (PCC) and Deputy Police and Crime commissioner for Merseyside (DPCC), working directly to the Chief Executive.  The post holder will develop and maintain a strategic overview of all work streams undertaken by the office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC), ensuring that efficient and cohesive relationships exist within the OPCC, and provided high quality, evidence based advice to the PCC, DPCC and Chief Executive.

The post holder must be educated to degree level, preferably in Politics, a Social Science or Criminology, or have equivalent experience.  The post holder must also have proven experience of working at a strategic level and experience of working in a political office is essential. This could have been gained in local government, the civil service or by working in an MP’s office.

You should also have:

  • Extensive experience either in the public sector or the VSCE sector;

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and have experience of dealing with people at various levels within and outside of the organisation;

  • Knowledge of partner organisations in Merseyside and nationally;

  • Ability to assimilate and analyse large amounts of information. This involves analysis, development and independent research in order to present it as a written or oral briefing in a condensed format for the PCC, DPCC, or Chief Executive;

  • A current driving licence.
