Carecall is the Council’s Social Alarm service which allows the freedom of independent living for over 3,900 people who are connected to the Carecall service.

The service is operational 24 hours a day, 7 days per week and therefore you will be required to work nights, daytime, evenings and weekends – this will include working Bank Holidays. Carecall Operators work to cover 24hrs on a four day shift rota (7 periods of 29hrs in eight weeks)

You will receive and make calls to service users to support their independence. You will also receive calls in connection with the Councils emergency “out of hours” service.

The post will be of particular interest to someone who has a genuine concern for the care and wellbeing of older and vulnerable people.

Principle duties will mainly involve operating the Call Handling system, therefore good telephone communication skills are essential, together with an ability to quickly analyse and resolve problems as presented. An ability to maintain a computerised database of accurate user information is essential, along with good clerical skills.
