Our Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub, or ‘MASH’, is the first point of contact for all new contacts about children, young people and their families. We help vulnerable children who may benefit from early help services as well as children in need of social work support, protection and care.

The MASH is an innovative way of strengthening local safeguarding practice to enable local safeguarding partners to share information and work together. We work closely with a wide range of professionals from other statutory agencies, voluntary services, family members, members of the public and children and young people themselves.

The MASH Team Manager plays a key role by co-ordinating and managing the daily activity in the MASH and maximising the contribution of partners to ensure that operational teams are equipped with the fullest picture when they make contact with children and families to follow up on safeguarding concerns.

Reporting to the Principal Manager and Head of Service, the MASH Team Manager plays a crucial role in:

•listening and responding to staff and partners at all levels and from a range of different professional backgrounds

•interpreting information, data and intelligence

•communicating and giving feedback

•making informed and evidence based decisions

•creating a positive interface for all MASH practitioners and partners

•keeping pace in a fast moving multi-agency environment

•adhering to strict timescales

The MASH Team Manager will coordinate and manage daily activity in the MASH and maximise the opportunities and benefits of working with partners to deliver a safe and effective service. The MASH Team Manager will supervise a team of 7 including 3 social workers.

The MASH Team Manager does not have line management responsibility for any co-located staff from other agencies as all staff from partner agencies will continue to be employed and line managed by their own agency.

About you -

You will have experience of working in a multi-disciplinary environment, ideally with direct experience of a Multi- Agency Safeguarding Hub;

You will have a minimum of 2 years’ experience of managing a statutory child protection team and be confident and competent at making decisions to safeguard and protect children;

You will always want to hear the child’s voice and ensure that this is taken into account;

You will be able to take a key role in planning, developing and improving services;

You will be empathetic and sensitive to the needs of those reporting to you;

You will know how to measure and monitor practice and performance to ensure individuals and the service as a whole operates to a consistently good standard;

You will be diplomatic, fair and robust enough to deal with complaints and challenges;

You will be an influential negotiator when dealing with potential and actual conflict;

You will have excellent communication skills and be able to convey complex messages in a straightforward way, both verbally and in writing;

You will not be afraid to think creatively to solve problems;

You will be capable of making decisions, especially when there is uncertainty;

You will see the ‘big picture’ and embrace opportunities to work with other professionals from a wide range of professional backgrounds.

BA/MA/BSc/MSc Social Work, CQSW, DipSW, CSS or CCETSW approved equivalent.

It is also essential that you be registered with the HCPC.

Enhanced DBS clearance is required.
