iCAN - Bonfire night and Fireworks
25 Oct 2017
With Bonfire Night fast approaching and fireworks going on sale this weekend, Warrington BC Trading Standards would like to remind residents to only buy fireworks from licensed retailers.
In previous years fireworks have been seen being offered for sale at car boot sales, from the back of vans and on social media.
Fireworks sold in this way will not be stored correctly and you cannot be sure that any of the fireworks sold will be safe. There is also a change in the legislation about the labelling of fireworks meaning that for fireworks to be fully complaint they now need to display the ‘CE’ mark.
General advice about Halloween and Bonfire Night safety can be found at the Warrington BC website at https://www.warrington.gov.uk/info/201085/culture_community_and_health/1444/halloween_and_bonfire_night_safety
If you have any information about the unlicensed sale of fireworks we would ask that you pass the information onto the Citizen’s Advice Consumer Advice service on 03454 04 05 06.
Please pass this information to family, friends, neighbours and anyone you think maybe vulnerable
