Online forms: Register a keyholder for your property

We get several complaints each year about alarms sounding and causing a problem to neighbours. The vast majority of these alarms are sounding needlessly and we have to get them switched off, sometimes by breaking into the property.  The cost of this is passed on to the owner or occupier of the house. Potentially the bill can turn into hundreds of pounds.

Any alarm should have a 20 minute cut out device fitted to it, to stop it from ringing for long periods.  Even if it does have a cut out, it may be triggered over and over again by a fault.  Even the best maintained alarm systems can develop faults so you can help us, and perhaps save yourself a considerable sum of money, by having someone else hold a key for you.

Use this form to let us know who your keyholders are so that we can contact them for you and get your alarm turned off without causing you any distress.  All details are kept on a secure database and would only ever be accessed if we received a complaint about your alarm.

You will need to tell us:

  • Your name, address, email and telephone number
  • The name, address and telephone number of your two keyholders

The data we collect from our online forms is stored for no more than six weeks. However teams within the council may store your data for longer in order to continue to provide you with the service you have requested. For more information see our website privacy policy.
