How to obtain a community recycling centre permit

Access for larger vehicles and trailers

Vehicles over 3.5 tonnes and trailers bigger than 3 metres in length or 1.5 metres in width aren't allowed at any of the CRCs.

Vans and other commercial type vehicles, or vehicles pulling larger trailers, are only allowed access to Gatewarth and Woolston CRCs. Cars towing smaller trailers can access Stockton Heath CRC.

If you require one visit in a commercial-type vehicle to dispose of a small amount of household waste, then you'll need to be able to confirm your name and address in Warrington to the site staff by taking a recent utility bill or your driving licence.

You may also be asked to sign a disclaimer form to confirm that the waste has been produced by yourself at your property and has not been generated through any business activity.

If you require more than one visit or wish to dispose of items which are not classed as Household waste then you'll need to contact the council to arrange a permit for access to the CRC.

Permits are issued for an agreed number of visits to a community recycling centre (up to a maximum of three) to either Gatewarth or Woolston CRC on an agreed date.

In order to obtain the permit you'll need to provide a full list of the items you wish to dispose of and the approximate quantity. If the type and quantity of material meets our criteria then a permit will be issued.

The permit will specify:

  • the items to be disposed of
  • the CRC the permit is valid for
  • the date of the visit
  • the vehicle being used to transport the waste (e.g. make, model and registration number).

You'll need to produce the permit along with proof of your address to the site staff on arrival.
