The properties below are exempt from paying council tax.  There are also people in certain circumstances who can claim a council tax discount

A general discount/exemption can't be given for properties which are furnished, even if nobody lives there.  However, there are some exceptions to this depending on the individual circumstances, e.g. if the resident has recently passed away.  Find out more about unoccupied properties.
