If you have had water in your house due to the recent flooding you will be eligible for a one-off payment of £500 from the council to help with recovery costs, like temporary accommodation.
We will be visiting properties believed to have been affected by the flooding to discuss these payments. Where possible we will take your details and check your property has been affected.

Flood recovery support for businesses
A business support scheme to provide grants to small
and medium sized businesses to help them recover from the damage caused by
flooding. To apply or find out more information, see the documents below:
Flood resilience grant
Government support is available for grants of up to £5,000 to homeowners and businesses that have been flooded as a result of recent storms Desmond and Eva.
Grants are available to fund improvements to your property’s resilience or resistance to flooding, however over and above repairs this would normally be covered by insurance.
The National Flood Forum sets out a step-by-step process for householders and a range of flood products and service providers.
The most appropriate work will vary from house to house, so we'd recommend that you consider a professional survey to identify flood risks (work may include air-brick covers, re-pointing external walls with water resistant mortar, door guards and toilet pan seals).
For further information, please contact the Engineering & Flood Risk Team on 01925 44 2534.
Finding an insurer
If your property is at risk of flooding or has previously been flooded, it may be difficult to find an insurance company willing to sell you an affordable policy. The National Flood Forum can advise on how to get insurance and how to reduce your premium/excess.
The British Insurance Broker’s Association has details of brokers that specialise in properties that are difficult to insure.
The government has also put together a guidance document ‘Obtaining flood insurance in high risk areas’
