Housing benefit and council tax support

How to claim

If you have claimed Universal Credit and pay rent, this will be included in your monthly payment. However, you will still need to make a claim for Council Tax Support. You can do this online.

If you have claimed Jobseekers Allowance, Employment Support Allowance or Pension Credit, an automatic claim for Housing Benefit should have been made. However, you will still need to make a claim for Council Tax Support. You can do this online.

If you are not already receiving Housing Benefit and/or Council Tax Support and think you may qualify, you can make a claim online.

Claim online

Online is the easiest way to apply for housing benefit and/or council tax support.

You will need to provide evidence to support your claim. Please provide this as soon as possible to avoid delaying your claim.

We also recommend you sign up to view and manage your benefits account online, this will allow you to see more information about your claim on any day, at any time.

There may be delays if you submit your claim form between 6.30pm and 8pm as this is the most popular time of day, so please try to avoid this time slot if you can. If you do have problems submitting the form, please save it and submit it later that day.

You can also call or visit Contact Warrington.
