Whitecross Park play area refurbishment consultation
The children’s play area equipment in Whitecross Park offers is approaching its ‘sell-by’ date. The new play area will include inclusive equipment targeted at children between two and eight years old. The play space will be completely resurfaced using safety surfacing and tarmac that will include some really cool graphics. We're also proposing to reduce the refurbished play area slightly to increase the distance from existing residential properties.
We'll also be improving the access to the park as part of the refurbishment.
So that we can secure funding we’re seeking your views so that we can demonstrate that there’s a need for this refurbishment and that we have full community support for the outlined project.
Our proposals are as follows:
- Refurbishment of the existing play area for children aged 2 – 8 years old
- Reducing the play area footprint to increase the distance from residential properties
- Provide inclusive equipment of high quality
- Resurfacing the new play area with Safety surface and Tarmac with graphics
- Install play area dog barrier fencing with two access gates within tarmac footprint
- Improving access
Before you complete the online consultation, have a look at some of the illustrations [pdf] which show the types of new facilities that could be provided if we’re successful in securing the necessary funding (please note that these are just two company’s visions of the kind of layout that could be achieved). Many of our recently refurbished sites have colourful illustrations that follow a theme such as railways, ‘the farm’, wildlife, rugby, etc. We’d welcome your thoughts on a theme for the proposed Whitecross Park play area and look forward to hearing from you.
