Mayor of Warrington
Cllr Karen Elizabeth Mundry is the 135th Mayor and first citizen of Warrington.
Cllr Mundry is the 10th woman to be Mayor of Warrington but she will be the second Mundry! Her husband Cllr Hans Mundry served as the borough’s first citizen in 2005.
Born in Golborne (when Golborne was part of Warrington) Karen is the daughter of a miner who moved to Latchford in 1961 - where she still lives.
Cllr Mundry has always been committed to the development of children and served as a manager of children’s nurseries in Latchford. She is still a senior nursery practitioner working at The Cheshire Day Nursery in Latchford and volunteered for St John Ambulance for a number of years.
Representing Latchford East, Karen first joined the council in 2002 and has served on a number of council committees as well as being the first woman to represent Warrington on the Cheshire Fire Authority.
Karen and Hans have three children and nine grandchildren. Her son Jason Mundry will be her consort supporting Karen in her mayoral year.
The Mayor's charities
Warrington Disability Partnership, a voluntary organisation run predominately by disabled people with the aim of improving the quality of life for disabled people and their families through a range of direct and indirect services.
Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Centre for Peace, a charity that works nationally and internationally for peace and non-violent resolution of conflict. It delivers unique programmes that focus on young people, from offering general leadership development to working with those who may be vulnerable or at risk of being influenced by extremism.
And she will also support some smaller local charities.

A Deputy Mayor is appointed to assist the Mayor throughout the year and it is usual for the deputy to succeed to the Mayor the following year - Cllr Wendy Johnson is the Deputy Mayor of Warrington for 2018-19.
