Each year a new Mayor of Warrington is elected during the annual meeting of full council.
The 134th Mayor and first citizen of Warrington is Cllr Les Morgan
The mayor that cares
The incoming mayor of Warrington will be Cllr Les Morgan who will take over from Cllr Faisal Rashid.
Representing the Latchford West ward Councillor Morgan, aged 75, is a former trade union official who worked for the GMB union. He is also a long-standing campaigner in the Warrington community who has a particular interest in protecting the most vulnerable residents. He was a founder member of St Werburgh’s community hub.
Cllr Morgan said: “As the Mayor of Warrington I will be striving to promote the good news story that is Warrington. I will make sure everyone knows about our many and ongoing successes in developing the business and investment sectors.
“I have a great love for my town and I believe it’s a great place to call home.”
Cllr Morgan has been married to wife Gwyn for 41 years and has four children and eight grandchildren.
He enjoys most contact sports (particularly rugby league) and coarse fishing. He is a lifelong supporter of Warrington Wolves but says his greatest love is his family and home life.

The Mayor attends hundreds of events every year, both inside the town and across the country, acting as a representative for Warrington. Cllr Karen Mundry is the Deputy Mayor. It is usual for the deputy to succeed to the Mayor the following year.
