Old Hall Park play area refurbishment
This consultation closed on 14 September 2018.
The children’s play area equipment in Old Hall Park offers very little play value and is approaching its ‘sell-by’ date. So we're proposing to create a new play area that will feature inclusive equipment of high play value targeted at younger children aged 2 to 8 years. As part of the project, access will be improved to and within the play space, which will be entirely surfaced using safety surfacing and tarmac that will include some cool graphics!
We'd also like to propose reducing the footprint of the refurbished play area to accommodate the removal of dilapidated timber edging and the regrading of the earth bank. As part of this process we'll upgrade access points into the new play area to improve access for mobility impaired visitors and families with prams and pushchairs. The play facility is surrounded by dense trees and shrubs which obscure the play area from public view so as part of the improvements we'll look to significantly thin these wooded areas in order to improve lines of sight and natural surveillance to help reduce antisocial behaviour.
To help us secure funding for these improvements we need to demonstrate that there's a need for this refurbishment and that we have full community support for the outlined project. That's where you come in - we need your views on our proposals...
- Refurbishment of the existing play area for children aged 2-8 years old
- Woodland thinning works to provide clear views into the play and ball court areas from existing paths
- Improve access into the play area for mobility impaired visitors and families with prams and pushchairs
- Install play area dog barrier fencing with two access gates within a tarmac footprint
Many of our recently refurbished sites have colourful illustrations that follow a theme such as railways, ‘the farm’, wildlife, rugby, etc. However we’d welcome your thoughts on a theme for the proposed Old Hall Park play area and look forward to hearing from you!
