Carer support groups

Caring for someone can be difficult and sometimes very isolating. There are various carers support groups in the Warrington area that can help.

Wired Adult and Young Carers Services Warrington

Wired Adult and Young Carers Services Warrington provide a focal point for carers, offering information, support, social and training activities, a quarterly newsletter and a free helpline.

Drop-in/outreach groups:

  • Mondays and Fridays, 11am-3pm, 86 Sankey Street , Warrington, WA1 1SG 
  • Tuesdays, 10am-12.30pm, Lymm Youth and Community Centre, Bridgewater Street , Lymm, WA13 0AB 
  • Wednesdays (2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month), 10am-12noon, St Andrew's Church, Poplars Avenue, Orford, WA2 9UE
  • Thursdays, 10am-12noon, Fearnhead Cross Youth and Community Centre, Padgate , WA2 0HD
  • St Thomas’ Church, London Road, Stockton Heath,  WA4 6HJ - Appointment only

Caring for someone with a dementia type illness 

The Alzheimer’s Society organise regular dementia cafés in Warrington, where people living with dementia and their carers can go for support, information and friendship. If you are caring for someone with a dementia type illness the Alzheimer’s Society also have dementia advisors who can provide you with information, support and advice on your loved one's illness.  Find out more about dementia support services.

Caring for someone experiencing mental distress 

There's a support group especially for carers who support people experiencing mental distress. The group are able to talk in confidence about any concerns they may have about the person they are caring for. Carers also have the opportunity to have a one to one with the council's Mental Health Carers Support Workers that attend. Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender carers forum

If you identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender and have caring responsibilities there is a service provided by the Lesbian and Gay Foundation in Manchester that could provide additional support to you.
