Walton Hall and Gardens developments
Walton conservatory range project
Supported by our partners Walton Lea Partnership, Myerscough College and the Friends of Walton estate we recently submitted a Round 2 bid to the Heritage Lottery fund for just under £2milllion to put towards the restoration of the historic glasshouses on the estate.
As you can see by the photo of the glasshouses, they're in a state of disrepair at the moment and its our aim to bring them back to life and to refurbish the Shippon Yard pictured beneath the glasshouses.
Mysercough College and Walton Lea Partnership will be renting some of the site from us to deliver education and learning. We've also developed an activity programme with an exciting range of volunteering activities and interpretation as we feel that the Walton Estate has some great stories to be told and we want to share that with the people who visit.
The pictures and info graphic below show the broad aims of our project.
We submitted our Round 2 bid on the 7 November 2016 and we should find out if we've been successful by the end of April 2017. Subject to everything going to plan the site would be open in Spring 2019.
