Burtonwood environmental scheme

Following an assessment process the results and responses from our recent consultation are set out in our Consultation Closure Document [pdf].

Timescales

Following a consultation exercise undertaken in September / October 2018 – works will now commenced on site on the 8 April 2019 associated with the Burtonwood Environmental Improvement scheme, providing a wide variety of measures to manage traffic volume, speeds, movement and improve facilities for pedestrians and cyclists.

The works have been programmed to be undertaken in phases to minimise the disruption to motorists.

In order to minimise the disruption to motorists and residents, works have been programmed between 9.30am - 3.30pm, under a series of road closures. The road closures will be in place as and when the relevant signs are displayed on site. The various alternative routes for each phase of the works are detailed in the master diversion plan [pdf].

The following details phase 1 to phase 9 of the works programmed up to 16 August 2019:

Phase one to five 

  • Location 1 - Clay Lane / Haley Road South
  • Location 2 - Clay Lane / Gorsey Lane
  • Location 3 - Clay Lane / Haley Road North
  • Location 4 - Clay Lane / Phipps Lane
  • Location 5 - Chapel Lane / Perrins Road
  • Status/Progress to date:
    • Civils works complete
    • Final carriageway surfacing and ramp profile programmed for Mon 29 July - Fri 16 Aug 2019

Phase six

Works commenced 13 June 2019. 

  • Location - Chapel Lane / Green Jones Brow (adjacent to community centre)
  • Description of works - construction of puffin crossing and associated footway works
    Duration of works - two weeks
  • Alternative route - follow the purple route on our master diversion plan

Phase seven 

Works programmed to commence on site 17 June 2019.

  • Location - Penny Lane
  • Description of Works – construction of raised junction and associated footway works
  • Duration of work - one week
    • Final carriageway surfacing and ramp profile programmed for Wed  18 Sep 2019
  • Note - the proposed works are being contructed under 2 way temporary traffic signals, no diversion will be required

Phase eight

Works programmed to commence on site 1 July 2019

  • Location - Fir Tree Lane / Farmers Lane
  • Description of Works – construction of Mini Roundabout and associated footway works
  • Duration of work - three weeks
  • Alternative route - follow the purple route on our master diversion plan
    • Final carriageway surfacing and ramp profile programmed for Wed 23 July 2019

Phase nine 

Works programmed to commence on site 23 July 2019

  • Location  - Penny Lane / Broad Lane
  • Description of Works – construction of raised junction and associated footway works
  • Duration of Works – three weeks
    • Final carriageway surfacing and ramp profile programmed for Wed 23 Sep 2019
  • Note - the proposed works are being constructed under 4 way temporary traffic signals. No diversion will be required

Street lighting 

Various street lighting works will be undertaken at certain locations along effected section of carriageway as part of the improvement works.  

The diversion route [pdf] illustrates the alternative route for each Phase of the Burtonwood Environmental improvement scheme.

The overall duration of the project is anticipated to be around six months (completion mid October 2019). Further updates will be provided throughout the duration of the works on a fortnightly basis detailing the phasing of the works, the temporary traffic management arrangements, progress of the scheme, road closures and alternative routes etc.
