Burtonwood and Kingswood Road - junction improvements
Left turn out of Kingswood Road will be closed between 9:30am – 15:30pm from Tuesday 12 until Fri 15 June 2018. Full diversions will be in place.
There'll be no access into Kingswood Road from Burtonwood Road or out of Kingswood Road onto Burtonwood Road from Monday 18 June to Friday 22 June 2018 between 9.30am - 3.30pm. Full diversions will be in place.
We're in the process of starting the southbound widening of Burtonwood Road with some work having already taken place to the sides of the highway. In April 2018 we closed Burtonwood Road northbound from the roundabout at Whittle Avenue/Burtonwood Road to the new junction of Charon Way. This closure will be in operation 24/7 until January 2019 to allow us to carry out the widening.
With the M62 Junction Improvement scheme nearing completion we'll be closing down the M62 Junction 8 Improvement email address and instead we'll start to use WWH@warrington.gov.uk for all information relating to Burtonwood Road widening scheme.
Burtonwood Road diversion routes
Burtonwood Road is being widened to two lanes southbound between Charon Way and the roundabout junction of Westbrook Way / Burtonwood Road. These improvements will reduce queue lengths and improve journey times in the vicinity. Improved cycle and pedestrian facilities will also be provided as part of the scheme.
Construction of the improvements is currently underway and works are expected to be completed by January 2019.
The total cost of these works will be around £5 million, of which we've contributed £900,000. The remaining contributions have been provided by:
- Omega Warrington Limited
- The Department of Transport via a successful National Productivity Investment Funding bid
Public consultation on the scheme was held between 25 September and 5 November 2017. The consultation report [pdf] provides details of the consultation methodology and a summary of all responses received.
