The Safeguarding and Quality Assurance team plays a vital role to support adults with care and support needs to maintain their safety and achieve their desired outcomes by working closely with health services, Cheshire Police and the voluntary, and community sectors. Together we aim to uphold the Making Safeguarding Personal principles to deliver responses to achieve positive outcomes for adults with care and support needs who are at risk of abuse or neglect. 

The role

Warrington Borough Council is seeking an experienced and dynamic Adult Safeguarding Manager to join our Safeguarding and Quality Assurance Team.

This role is key to overseeing complex safeguarding enquiries by skilfully chairing multi-agency safeguarding meetings and leading on the development of safety plans. You will also be responsible for monitoring safeguarding activity and leading on operational developments to safely manage achieve better outcomes for the population alongside the Adult Safeguarding Manager (Making Safeguarding Personal Lead). You will also work closely with the Team Manager for Quality, Assurance and Improvement, safeguarding leads within health services and Cheshire Police.

As an Adult Safeguarding Manager, you will:

  • Be responsible for the day-to-day management of a specialist team within the Adult Safeguarding and Quality Assurance Division, through effective leadership, organisation and assurance of safeguarding practice.
  • Provide specialist advice and guidance is accessible for members of the Safeguarding and Quality Assurance team, internal colleagues, partner agencies and members of the public such as adults at risk, their family members of other concerned parties.
  • Oversee and support the deployment of resources to address safeguarding related service demands and system pressures.
  • Attend or facilitate a range of network meetings e.g. Registered Managers Network, SG and MCA forum, MARAC, MARAM, MAPPA.
  • Chair multi-agency safeguarding meetings. To offer advice internally and to safeguarding leads in other agencies in areas of risk, safeguarding and care quality.
  • Deliver safeguarding related training and lead or participate in workshops as required.

What's needed?

In line with the person specification for this role, we are seeking a skilled leader with a professional qualification or relevant experience who is person-centred, adaptable, flexible, resilient and compassionate.

The successful candidate will have significant experience in safeguarding adults with a strong track record of working in partnership across organisations to achieve positive outcomes. Excellent communication, an ability to present information, good timekeeping and a passionate, empathetic approach is essential for this role.
