About us

We are looking for a new Contract and Commissioning Officer to join our experienced and supportive all age Contract and Commissioning Team in Adult Social Care. This is a full-time permanent post and will work in a hybrid way, with a minimum of 2 days in the office at Times Square, Warrington. You will be part of a team of three Contracts and Commissioning Officers reporting to the Older People’s Contracts and Commissioning Team Manager.

The role

We invest over £80m each year in care and support services for adults across Warrington.  The successful post holder will lead on the residential and nursing contract portfolio of Older People commissioned services. The post holder will undertake a range of activities as part of the commissioning life cycle, from population needs assessment, service development, market shaping, procurement and contract management, as well as leading on or contributing to other development projects.

You will need to be confident enough to set clear expectations for a range of colleagues and partners. Our future success will be dependent on working collaboratively and co-producing new responses to local challenges. We expect all our work to be informed by the voices of those that use services and you will need good communication skills to engage with a range of people.

You will need to be able to establish and grow positive relationships with partners inside and outside the Council including our care home providers; this means you will be involved in managing market pressures and capacity, working routinely with providers and partner agencies. Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate a good understanding of Local Government and preferably within a social care setting, plus experience in a commissioning and contract management role.
