We are looking for experienced health protection professionals to be responsible for ensuring that Health Protection priorities are met. This will primarily be related to COVID-19 but priorities will continue to emerge and evolve, as we learn to live with COVID-19.

The post-holders will build on the work undertaken to coordinate the various aspects of COVID-19 prevention, preparedness, management and recovery, and will work with various settings on a broader health protection and health improvement agenda. They will oversee health protection and prevention work within key settings and sectors and work with key partners to ensure processes are in place for managing local outbreaks of infectious disease, and associated consequences in complex settings and amongst vulnerable populations.

The precise portfolio will be agreed on appointment and will be reviewed on a regular basis.  However, the roles will play a vital role in overseeing the Council’s testing, contact tracing and outbreak management response to COVID-19.

The post holders will need good communication, presentational and training skills. In addition, you will be experienced in working with a wide range of individuals in many settings.  You will be experienced in developing large scale public health programmes with partners and communities and also possess an extensive knowledge of the health protection.
