About Journey First

Warrington Borough Council is a delivery partner in a European Social Fund project which will support people with complex needs and multiple barriers and help them move towards and into employment. The “Journey First” project will provide intense, innovative, holistic and tailored support to young people who are NEET or at risk of NEET; and also focus on young people aged up to 24, who are disengaged from mainstream activity. It will also support people of any age with multiple and complex barriers, including disabilities and mental health conditions, to address these underlying issues and to move closer to or into the labour market.

We are now recruiting to build our specialist capacity to deliver this project.

The Role

This post will maintain contact with Journey First participants, and work proactively with support services and employers, to ensure that accurate and up to date information on participation, progress and destinations is recorded. You will have a good grasp of local labour market intelligence and develop mutually beneficial relationships with local employers, organise work trials, promote available incentives, and maintain a database of opportunities and contact details.

Experience of working with employers, especially negotiating and providing solutions to help set up employment or work experience placements for vulnerable young people and/or adults is essential for this role.

Key Information:

2 year fixed term contract

37 hours per week

Secondment for internal staff or job share arrangements may be considered.

DBS clearance is required.

The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
