The role

We are looking to recruit a Principal Educational Psychologist to lead our highly successful team of Educational Psychologists and Sensory team members.

This team has a central role in improving outcomes for children and young people in Warrington.

We are looking for a Principal Educational Psychologist who shares our core values; to make a positive impact on children and their families and the schools they attend; to be an advocate for the voice of the child and to work collaboratively with services to share new knowledge and approaches.

The Educational Psychology team is helped to be successful by being a supportive team where managerial and peer supervision is valued, where time is taken to discuss ethical issues which shape work and where time is given to develop professionally.

As Principal Educational Psychologist you will work to deliver high quality advice and support to children and young people, their parents and educational settings. You will be responsible for ensuring the Local Authority's statutory responsibility to deliver high quality assessment and reporting are met. As PEP, you will be responsible for delivering a traded service to schools and partners which offers a variety of different professional opportunities for team members.

To be shortlisted you will clearly evidence:

  • A desire to work with children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
  • Educational Psychology qualification and active registration with HCPC
  • Working at a senior management level within an EP Service
  • A thorough knowledge of the Children and Families Act 2014 and the associated SEND Code of Practice
  • Experience of budget management to include income/income sustainability
  • The ability to work in a busy environment
  • experience of working collaboratively with schools and other education settings, professionals from education, health and social care and children and families
  • Effective communication both orally and in writing with a wide range of professionals and parents

DBS clearance is required.

The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
